Worried bonds are no longer safe?

The ability of bonds to live up to their safe-haven, risk-dampening rep is looking shaky lately. Yields are abysmally low, the prospect of a price drop is high if interest rates rise, and all that wrangling over the debt ceiling didn't exactly inspire confidence.
